Last July I started this comedy improv journey and now I find myself performing with my first comedy improv troupe, Ghost Prom. We’ll be headlining the Block Party open mic show at The New Movement Theater tonight at 9:30.

I was finally able to watch and perform at Block Party at The New Movement Theater last Thursday night. I chose to do a reading of a diary by a young girl in 1993 entitled ‘Going Nowhere Fast…Falling So Hard We Never Look Back’. This is the video of that first reading.

Ghost Prom

The very first Megaphone Public Access show was a success and the show will be returning Feb 20th at The New Movement Theater. The show was not archived but there are some clips floating around on youtube.com.
In other news, I was asked to audition for a new comedy improv troupe and everyone did really well! It was a fun time and a few days later I was informed that I am now one of the 7 improv actors for Ghost Prom! Yaaay. I don’t really remember the last time I tried out for something, but I was really excited and happy that I made it and it worked out. I’ll be working with some amazing and hilarious people. Things are abound in the 2010.
SXSW is gearing up. I’m not sure if I’m taking the whole week off or not but I will be writing/recording and DJing the music during the actual web awards ceremony again this year. Cheap Trick is headling, and that’s all I know at this point.
I did get to see Agnostic Front play the entire Victim in Pain album at Red 7 last Saturday. It was a great time and I felt 16 again. I didn’t break my back in the pit, but I did help break up the one fight that broke out. Good times, great oldies.
I will be creating another site for my comedy exploits very soon. Stay tuned.

2010 The Year of Change and Progress.

2010 is already beginning to be a decade of new beginnings and changes. That’s sounds like something Obama might say. In December I became single and dating life has already been interesting enough to keep me from doing it for a while. I do have a new show starting January 15th at the New Movement Theater. It’s a talkshow, podcast, video webcast, live studio audience show in the stylings of the old cable access shows that I used to love. I’m really excited about it and the first show will have guests John Kinsey and Wicked Celtics.
I also found out the other day that I will be moving in the next month or two. So long to The Bitter Pad house. I’m going to miss the hot tub the most. I hope to find a place more central or south for work and personal reasons.
Over the holidays I took a break from standup to concentrate on writing and the improv classes I’m taking. I’m now getting back into gear in standup and will be doing open mic tonight at Kick Butt Coffee on Airport. The last time I went up was at Cap City Comedy in November.
I also picked up a new HD pocket cam, so I’m trying to do some more youtube videos.

Doing Something New

Summer is here in full swing and it is hot as hell. Unfortunately, the LeMons race is not going to happen for us this October. Our chief mechanic’s wife had a baby and he has his hands full with other tools, like bottles, wipes, and those nose air bulb things. Congratulations to him and his family with their new addition, Ian.

In other news:
I have started taking improv and standup classes at The New Movement Theater in east Austin. I’ve always wanted to do standup since I was a little kid and thought that standup was what I was going to do when I grew up. Dan French is teaching the standup class and so far I am finding out that writing good jokes is very HARD. The improv class is different to me and something that I’ve enjoyed watching and the ideas behind it, but never really considered doing it. I’m not a theater person and I hate memorizing lines, but I do enjoy the stage. This seemed like a good thing to try. I’m trying to open my mind to new things to keep life interesting. So far I am having a lot of fun with it. The gang at The New Movement Theater are awesome, available and very helpful. If you at all ever had an interest in trying out improv or standup, check it out.

Beware, I may start hitting some open mic nights at various establishments around town. Stay tuned.

XBox360 Just Killed PS3 and Wii at E3

I just watched the Microsoft XBox 360 E3 show streamed from the Gamertagradio balcony camera. Some big games were announced and some big advancements were announced. They went through the already known games, Halo ODST, Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2, Forza 3, Beatles Rock Band, and then also announced Halo Reach, Alan Wake, Final Fantasy XIII, Crackdown 2, Left 4 Dead 2, and a big pull from PS3, Metal Gear Solid.
The XBox has also joined some other services that many people use such and integrated them into the console. Little services like Facebook, Twitter, LastFM, and Skynet live television stream broadcasting. Improvements to Netflix is also coming. No more going to the computer to add movies. Also the ability to watch movies and tv shows with your XBox friends. Still no Blue Ray but why would you need that when you will have instant 1080p HD movies and television. I’m really glad I got rid of my cable subscription.

Towards the end of the show they ended by announcing a new evolution in not only the XBox but in gaming in general. Controllerless gaming. A new hardware device will provide 3D motion detection and recognition as well as voice detection and recognition. You will be able to flip through the dashboard menus simply by waving your hands and start playing games or watching movies by simply telling it to play through speech. They have named this Project Natal and they are stepping up to Nintendo’s Wii to get non gamers involved in gaming by removing the controller all together.
The show started a little neutral and then just got better and better with a big bang at the end. Hopefully everything materializes and comes to be. I hope for Sony’s sake they have something big up their sleeves for their show because Microsoft just put another nail in the PS3 coffin.

It will be a fun holiday season this year!
